Canada's New Immigrant Investor Program Opens December 1, 2010

The new Canada Investor Immigration Program will start accepting applicants beginning this December 1, 2010. It is a good opportunity for businesspersons to invest their money in a highly developed nation such as Canada and at the same time migrate to Canada and eventually become a citizen.

Investing in Canada to be an immigrant
Canada modified its immigrant investor program last June to attract more investments for its growing economy. Investments coming from immigrant applicants can further sustain and increase the availability of Canadian jobs for citizens and other immigrants alike.

The government has increased the criteria to be eligible to migrate to Canada as an investor and applicants will be subject to it starting next month. The new critirea of the immigrant investor program are:
  • Personal Net Worth of $1.6 Million
  • Minimum investment of $800,000
The increase in the criteria were made not only to gain more investment money but also to attract more experienced investors who normally would have a wider business network and who will be more capable of making additional investments in the country.

Benefits of immigrant investors among others include permanent residence status and a guaranteed repayment of their investment.

But if you think the new Canada Immigrant Investor program is too high for you, may be you can opt for the US EB-5 Immigrant Investor program.
