Thursday, November 11, 2010
November 11 is the US annual federal holiday - Veterans Day. This is the holiday honoring all of those who have served the United States Armed Forces.
Aside from compensation & prestige, serving in the United States Armed Forces can lead to citizenship for its members and their dependents subject to passing all the qualifications set by the US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS).
Last October, 15 sailors coming from different countries including Filipinos were granted US citizenships on board two US Navy Ships. USCIS announced that this year alone, 11,146 members of the U.S. armed forces were naturalized, the highest number of granted citizenship since 1955.
Information about citizenship for US Military Members and their dependents can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/military.
