Mining Jobs - In-Demand Occupation in Canada

With the successful and inspirational rescue of 33 miners in Chile, mining jobs are unexpectedly in the limelight. But mining jobs isn't dangerous per se. There are inherent dangers but it can be limited with the proper knowledge, training and equipment.
Usual Employment requirements for mining jobs in Canada:
- Completion of secondary school is usually required.
- On-the-job training is provided.
- Experience as a heavy equipment operator may be required for drillers.
- Experience as a blaster helper in surface mining and quarrying or construction may be required for blasters.
- Provincial blasting licence is usually required for blasters.
- Trade certification for blasters is available, but voluntary, in New Brunswick.
